Of the same species of course.

I can always tell the difference between my budgies voices. Bonnie's voice seems to be higher than Clyde's.

I can shut my eyes and tell which one is chirping.

I'm wondering if anyone else can tell the difference between their same species birds.

Right now mine are all one of a kind, but in the past I had two tiels different as night and day, but the budgies all sounded the same. One bitched more though.

Sorry, can't help here. To borrow from the pet peeves post, I am "aviculturally challenged" Wink , having only Merlin right now.

I could tell Pigpen and No Name apart. I can tell Pigpen and Piper apart. Cheney Bird is easy since he has a distinct voice. I can also tell other birds from my bird's voices whether it's at a pet store or vet.

I can't tell between Apple and Spice. They are both Cockatiels.

LOL! I USED to be able to tell my 3 different species birds apart, but I can't any more!

When the Quaker started copying the Lovebird, and the Lovebird fell in love with the Conure and started using her contact call as well as copying some of the Quaker's squawks, I gave up!

Yeah, most of the time i can tell the difference,I did catch myself looking to see who was saying that because it was a bird who dosen't say much. With 20 zons in the house it can get crazy at times because they can mimic each other so well, but yeah most of the time i can tell who's saying what,The OWAs on the other hand all (4) have the exact same contact call and it's usually all 4 at once. The tiels, i don't even try, there's 2 dozen in a flight cage and they're a flock, they're are a couple of alpha males that i call song misters who teach the rest their favorite "songs" and serenade the others in the evenings.

I don't have as many as Hennpecked, so I can recognize the difference of each one.
The funny thing, one of the budgie learn mimicking my and Chico contact call and I didn't figure it out which one yet. It's a lot quieter than Chico, but sounds like wee-e-e whistle Wink

I am here 24-7 and yep I can tell who is saying what and who is trying to mimic whom all of the birds that are in the house I can tell apart in my sleep. The tiels are out on the porch and don't normally get loud enough to get over the TV.

Weeellll...I only have Jack. BUT I am trained (forever ongoing) in identifying birds by their song. So I can understand how you would be able to tell the difference between your parrots.

There are always some birds that sound very alike (American Robin vs Baltimore Oriole). But there is always a trick to telling them apart. For the Robin and Baltimore Oriole; its that the Baltimore Oriole sounds like it took singing lessons. Its clearer, smoother. Nothing you could learn except by listening to them regularly. I can see it being the same way for pet parrots; even the same species.

I can tell Sam & Eric's voices apart. The notes they hit are slightly off from each other, even when they "say" the same thing (most commonly contact calling - I can't go anywhere with one bird without the other two getting all indignant Rolling Eyes ). I'm going to tack on a "usually" though... When I'm not paying much attention and I'm down the hall in another room I sometimes mix them up.

We have 3 species...

Stryder just talks like Stryder.

Rosco talks like himself AND Stryder... he will make a Stryder scream and blame Merlin ("Meeerrrlliiinn!!")

Merlin is a brat and sounds JUST like Rosco AND Stryder - it gets confusing some days. He will scream like Stryder in Rosco's tone and blame himself.

I don't have multiples of the same species, but there are times I have trouble telling the Cape from the GCC or the Cape from my husband! The video clip I posted a while back has a bit at the beginning where Scotty wolf-whistles and Scooter imitates him. It's easy to tell who is who like that, but if I just heard one in isolation, I'm not so sure!

Scotty has phrases that he says in different voices -- He has a bunch of "Hellos". I suspect if we had another Cape with similar talking ability and similar exposure it would be hard to tell them apart. But because I know his repertoire pretty well, I am sure I'd be able to pick him out of a crowd based on his vocalizations... it's not so much the sound of his voice as what he does with it.
